— YOUR EMBODIED EROTIC SIGNATURE™ RESULT

Threshold

Eroticism shaped by tension, ambivalence, and the pull between wanting to act and holding back.

If this is your Signature, you may already know the feeling.

You really want something, and yet some part of you wants to hold back. You might feel yourself getting closer to something, then hesitate. You might be curious about someone while also wondering whether you should go there. You might want to say yes, then suddenly feel yourself asking, Do I actually want this? And sometimes, that tension is part of the charge.

AT A GLANCE

You may be naturally…

Reflective

You might spend a lot of time noticing what you actually want, especially when two different parts of you seem to want different things.

You may be someone who likes to sit with a feeling for a while rather than rushing to decide what it means.

Curious

You may find yourself particularly interested in experiences that aren't immediately straightforward.

That question of what will happen if I do? can be part of the charge for you.

Perceptive

You tend to notice changes in your own response as well as shifts in another person's attention, interest or availability.

A small change can tell you a lot.

Complex

You may be comfortable holding contradictory responses at once.

Wanting something and resisting it. Feeling drawn in while also maintaining some distance. Being curious and cautious at the same time.

WHAT YOUR SIGNATURE REVEALS

Threshold is about what happens when you are pulled in two directions at once. You might really want something and still feel yourself holding back. You might be curious while also wondering whether you should go there. You might feel a strong pull towards something, then notice yourself hesitate. Sometimes, that tension between I want this and I’m not sure is part of the erotic charge.

You don't necessarily need to choose one side straight away. You might find something interesting in staying with the feeling for a little while. Feeling the pull. Noticing the hesitation. Letting yourself wonder what might happen without having to decide immediately.

What happens in your body is unique to you. You might notice pulling, lifting, rising, fluttering, tingling, warmth, buzzing, pulsing, expanding, tightening, softening or dropping. You might notice one of these, several, something completely different, or nothing at all. The point isn't to find the “right” sensation. It's to start noticing what happens in your body when something feels both compelling and uncertain.

You may also find that once a decision is made, some of the charge changes. The conversation happens. You say yes or no. You cross the line you've been wondering about. Suddenly, something that felt charged becomes much simpler. For you, the uncertainty itself may have been part of what kept you engaged.

This doesn't mean you need drama or confusion. You may simply need some room for things to remain possible. Room to wonder. Room to not know yet. Room to feel something before deciding what you want to do with it.

This is part of a body-led approach to eroticism. Rather than starting with what you should feel, you start with what you can actually notice, and begin to learn what brings your eroticism alive, what changes it and what gets in the way.

A DISTINCTION WORTH NOTICING

Erotic tension or genuine uncertainty?

With Threshold, it can be easy to confuse feeling a lot with feeling turned on. When you don't know what you want, your body might feel restless, excited, tense or full of energy. You might keep thinking about what happened or what could happen next. But there is a difference between not knowing yet and enjoying that feeling, and not knowing and wanting the feeling to stop.

Neither response is something you need to judge. Your body can help you notice the difference between wanting to stay with the unknown and wanting the unknown to be over.

Genuine Uncertainty

If the uncertainty isn't feeling good, you might notice tightening, bracing, a held breath, a drop in your stomach, tension through your chest or a sense of wanting to pull away from the feeling. You might notice your body wanting things to be decided so it can settle.

Erotic Tension

If you are enjoying the uncertainty, you might notice a pull towards it, a fluttering or buzzing, warmth, tingling, a sense of expansion, a rising energy or a feeling of wanting to stay with the sensation a little longer.

WHAT COMES NATURALLY, AND WHAT MAY REQUIRE MORE ATTENTION

Your strengths & growth edges

These aren't fixed characteristics. And they are not things you need to fix. They are simply places worth becoming curious about as you get to know yourself more deeply.

MAY COME NATURALLY

Finding erotic charge in tension, uncertainty and unresolved possibility

Remaining engaged when an experience does not have an immediate answer

Noticing subtle changes in your own attraction and response

Allowing complexity rather than needing every experience to be immediately defined

MAY REQUIRE MORE ATTENTION

Recognising when erotic tension has shifted into anxiety or indecision

Allowing yourself to experience uncertainty without needing to manufacture more of it

Naming what you actually want once the exploration has given you enough information

Distinguishing genuine ambivalence from a response that is simply asking for more time or information

THE FRAMEWORK

From eroticism to the body

Embodied Erotic Design™ starts with an erotic dynamic and asks, How does that experience actually happen in your body? Your Signature gives you a lens. From there, we look at sensation, and integrate the 5 Somatic Tools. Not to tell you what you should feel, but to help you recognise what is already happening.

The research gives us the starting point. The embodied exploration is where the work begins.

YOUR BODY

Erotic experience involves changes in attention, breathing, muscular activity, sensation, heart rate and autonomic arousal.

For Threshold, you may notice heightened activation when you feel pulled between wanting to move towards something and holding yourself back. You might experience increased energy, tension, restlessness, uncertainty or a strong sense of anticipation.

For me, Threshold can feel like a pulling forward from the sternum and chest, a sense of being drawn towards something, curious about what might happen next. At the same time, I might notice my back pulling in the opposite direction, or my shoulders curling forward. There can be a drop or sensation in the belly, alongside tingling or excitement through the shoulders.

But this is my experience of Threshold, not a template for yours. So get curious. Where do you notice the experience first? What happens to your chest, your breathing or your muscles? Do you feel expansion or contraction? Excitement or discomfort? Curiosity or hesitation? What happens when you notice the space between the two?

There is no right sensation to find. The point is to begin recognising how your eroticism feels from the inside.

A SOMATIC EXPLORATION

With Threshold, the invitation is to explore the space between being pulled forward and being pulled back.

Notice the movement between the two. Forward, then back. Towards, then away. Then begin to find the place in between. You don't have to be fully pulled forward, and you don't have to curl back. Where is the point where you can stay curious without becoming uncomfortable? Notice what happens when you settle there. Can you remain interested? Can you play? Can you explore?

There is nothing to achieve. Simply notice what it feels like to find your own middle ground between activation and receptivity.
