— ABOUT

I thought I had lost my eroticism. I hadn’t.

For years, I believed I had lost connection with a part of myself I would never find again. What I discovered changed the way I understood sex, embodiment, and what it means to live a deeply fulfilling erotic life.

I’m Aïsha, a Somatic Sexologist in Melbourne.

I’m here to challenge the way we think about sex.

For a long time, I wondered if I would ever feel connected to that part of myself again. I felt disconnected from my body, my sexuality, and from a part of myself that once felt expressive, curious, and naturally connected to pleasure. I wondered if this was simply who I was now.

Through my own experience with anorexia, my relationship with my body, and the questions that emerged through intimacy, sexuality, and relationships, I began to understand something that would shape the work I do today.

Eroticism does not disappear. Our connection to it can.

This changed the way I understood sexuality.

I stopped looking for answers in what I should be doing differently and started paying attention to my relationship with my own body. How I listened. How I felt. How connected I was to myself.

I began to see that erotic fulfilment was not about becoming more desirable, more experienced or more skilled. It was about the relationship we have with ourselves. Our ability to listen to our bodies, trust our own sensations, express what feels true and stay connected to our own experience.

There is another part of my background that has shaped the way I work too.

Before becoming a Somatic Sexologist, I worked in grassroots activism as a Community Organiser and Campaigner, and later worked in public law and litigation with Government. My work has taught me to listen carefully, to ask questions, to look beneath the obvious answer and to pay attention to the systems and assumptions that shape people's lives.

That perspective follows me into my work with sexuality. We are surrounded by ideas about what sex should look like, what a healthy relationship should be, how often we should want sex, what should turn us on, what our bodies should look like and what it means to be good at sex.

I am interested in questioning those ideas. Not so that I can give you another set of rules to follow, but so that we can get closer to what is actually true for you.

Today, my work brings together somatic sexology, embodiment and this lifelong interest in people, power and the systems that shape the way we understand ourselves and each other.

I support people in reconnecting with their erotic selves and creating a more fulfilling erotic life that feels like their own.

My work is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live from their embodied erotic power and experience a deeply fulfilling erotic life.
